About Kacni Lakes

The Kacni lakes lie on a mountain plateau near the natural boundary between Dibër and Mat. Less visited than the Lurë lakes, they offer quiet alpine scenery, pastures and broad views.

Why visit

  • Quiet and largely undeveloped scenery
  • Lakes of glacial origin
  • High-altitude picnics and photography
  • A sense of exploration away from crowded places

What to see

  • The group of plateau lakes
  • Balgjaj slopes and pastures
  • Views toward Dibër and Mat
  • Shepherd huts and pastoral life

Getting there

Start from the Kacni area and continue along rural roads and trails. Local orientation is recommended for first-time visitors.

Practical tip

The terrain is open with little shade. Carry water and sun protection, and avoid unstable weather.
